BBMP to host Kukur Tihar festival

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is set to celebrate the Kukur Tihar festival on October 17, 2024.

Festival Origin: Traditionally celebrated in Nepal, known as the Festival of Dogs.

Purpose: To honor and worship dogs, recognizing their loyalty, obedience, protectiveness, and companionship.

Organizers: BBMP in partnership with the Sahavarthin Animal Welfare Trust and other entities.

Initiatives: Part of the #BITEFREELOCALITY campaign aimed at creating "coexistence champions" who work towards building a humane environment for animals. 

Activities: Includes various awareness programs to promote the positive roles of dogs in the ecosystem.
