India and Pakistan have renewed their agreement on the Kartarpur Corridor for another five years.
Renewal: The agreement, which was originally signed on October 24, 2019, has been extended to ensure uninterrupted access for Indian pilgrims to visit Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur in Pakistan.
Visa-Free Access: The Kartarpur Corridor provides visa-free access to Indian Sikh pilgrims to visit the final resting place of Sikhism founder Guru Nanak Dev. Service Charge: India has urged Pakistan to remove the $20 service charge levied on each pilgrim per visit.
About the Kartarpur Corridor
The Kartarpur Corridor is a visa-free border crossing and religious corridor that links Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur in Pakistan to Gurdwara Dera Baba Nanak in India.
Inauguration: The corridor was inaugurated on November 9, 2019, to mark the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev.
