ISRO to launch European Proba-3 mission

Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is set to launch the European Space Agency's (ESA) Proba-3 mission on November 29, 2024.

Mission Objective: Proba-3 aims to create an artificial solar eclipse in space to study the Sun's corona.

Satellites: The mission involves two satellites flying in precise formation.

One satellite, called the Occulter, will block the Sun, while the other, the Coronagraph, will study the Sun's outer atmosphere.

Launch Vehicle: The mission will be launched atop ISRO's PSLV-XL rocket from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota.

Significance: This mission will allow for prolonged observation of the Sun's corona, a feat previously unachievable in space missions.
