Kannada inscription found in Jangaon

A fascinating discovery was made in Pedaramcharla village, Jangaon Mandal in Telangana, where an inscription from the 9th century was found.

The inscription, written in Kannada.

Location: The inscription was engraved on a stone next to a statue of Lord Ganesha on the Venkanna rock behind a hillock called Ramulavari Gutta.

Text: The two-line inscription reads: ‘Sri Sambeya samsara-Bhitam madisidom’, suggesting that the sculpture was commissioned by a person named Sambaiah.

Significance: This discovery highlights the Kannada influence in the region during the 9th century.
