Karnataka fruit basket gets an exotic flavour

Karnataka's fruit basket is getting a delightful exotic twist. The cultivation of exotic fruits has taken off in the state, helping reduce dependence on foreign imports.

Exotic Fruits: Fruits like dragon fruit, avocado, rambutan, mangosteen, and litchi are increasingly being grown locally.

Reduction in Imports: The import of these exotic fruits has drastically decreased from nearly 50,000 MT a year to around 10,000 MT.

Local Cultivation: Karnataka cultivates nearly 64 types of exotic fruits, many of them on an experimental basis.
