Sagar Parikrama Yatra Programme

The Sagar Parikrama Yatra Programme is an extensive outreach initiative launched by the Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying, Government of India.

Launch Date: 

The program was launched on March 5, 2022, to coincide with the 75th Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

Objective: 

The primary aim is to visit coastal areas across the country, interact with fishermen, coastal communities, and stakeholders, and disseminate information about various fisheries-related schemes and programs.

Route:

 The journey started from Mandvi, Gujarat, and covered 113 locations in 80 coastal districts across 12 coastal states/union territories. The yatra concluded at Ganga Sagar, West Bengal on January 11, 2024. Coverage: The yatra covered a coastal length of 7440 km.
