Secretary-general of International Sericulture Commission

P. Sivakumar, Member-Secretary of the Central Silk Board, Ministry of Textiles, has been elected as the Secretary-General of the International Sericulture Commission (ISC) for the term 2025-2027.

ISC Role: As Secretary-General of ISC, he will lead the only inter-governmental organization engaged in the development of sericulture and the silk industry globally.

About the International Sericulture Commission 

The International Sericultural Commission (ISC) is an inter-governmental organization dedicated to the development of sericulture and the silk industry worldwide.

History: The ISC was established in 1957 following a resolution at the 7th International Congress of Sericulture. 

UN Registration: The ISC is registered with the United Nations, highlighting its global significance.

Objectives: The ISC aims to promote the development of sericulture and the silk industry through international cooperation, research, and training.
