WHO prequalifies Zydus’s Typhoid vaccine for UN procurement

The World Health Organization (WHO) has prequalified Zydus Lifesciences' typhoid vaccine, ZyVac TCV, making it eligible for United Nations (UN) procurement programs.

UN Procurement: The prequalification allows Zydus Lifesciences to participate in UN agencies' procurement programs, which acquire approximately 150 million doses of typhoid conjugate vaccine annually.

Vaccine Approval: ZyVac TCV is approved for active immunization against Salmonella typhi infection in individuals aged 6 months to 65 years.

About typhoid Typhoid fever is a serious bacterial infection caused by Salmonella Typhi.

Causes Contaminated Food and Water: The bacteria are usually spread through consuming food or water contaminated with feces from an infected person. 

Close Contact: Direct contact with an infected person can also spread the bacteria.

Treatment Antibiotics: Typhoid fever is treated with antibiotics.
